Hi, I’m Andrea and this is my blog where I share my love for food and fitness. I am a Holistic Nutritionist in training and a type 1 diabetic with the goal to empower T1D’s by advocating healthy living through eating nutritious food, moving your body and radiating positivity!

Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 9, it has been a long and bumpy road to get me to where I am today. My journey to good health, self-care and learning to balance my life while managing diabetes has definitely not been easy and I still continue to learn something new everyday.

It all began in my early twenties, when I was overloading my body with toxic foods and substances, and I knew next to nothing about practicing proper self-care. I was extremely anxious and ashamed of having diabetes. I felt that I would be a burden to those around me so I kept it entirely to myself and rarely spoke of it to anyone, even my closest family members. It wasn’t until I cleansed my life, in a literal and metaphorical sense, that I began to accept myself and open up. Slowly, I began to talk more about this disease to those around me, sharing my struggles and educating them to help them better understand. As I talked more, I started to realize that no one was judging me and if they were then they surely didn’t have my best interest at heart. I learned to love myself, including all of my flaws. I began to nourish my body with healthy, whole, real foods. I made physical activity a priority in my life with the focus on fitness and health, and not just a number on the scale. It was now a matter of enjoyment and if I wasn’t in the mood to go, then I did not have to go and I was not to feel guilty for it. I also rid myself of the unhealthy relationships I had in my life at the time and surrounded myself with those who loved me for me and brought positivity, encouragement and love into my life.


After a year of working on myself and making impactful lifestyle changes I managed to bring my HbA1c down to 6.7 from a staggering 10.3. Through proper nutrition, taking care of my body and my mind, and an active lifestyle I have seen the positive outcome it has had in all aspects of my life.
